New York City History Day

The Frederick A.O. Schwarz Education Center invites your students to participate in New York City History Day on Sunday, March 11, 2018. New York City History Day is an education program that engages students in grades 6-12 in the discovery and interpretation of historical topics. By participating in History Day, students can research topics related to the annual theme and can express themselves creatively through various formats such as exhibit boards, documentaries, websites, papers, and performances.

2018 NYCHD Competition is complete. If you or your students advanced to the NY State History Day competition, please register here by March 29, 2018. 

 

Important Notes about Payment:

The $10 registration fee for each student is due BEFORE March 11. 

Payments can be made online by credit card or via mail by check. All checks should be made out to the Museum of the City of New York and indicate which school and/or students are being paid for.

The Museum of the City of New York is a New York City Department of Education vendor (vendor number MUS015).

Refunds cannot be processed through the registration system at this time. If your student paid individually, but the school is paying for the registration please try to work out the student refund internally. Please do not submit a second payment for that student. If an internal solution cannot be reached, please contact NYCHistoryDay@mcny.org regarding the refund.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR WEBSITES: 

If you are experiencing problems accessing your Weebly site, please try the following: 

1. If you have antivirus software installed, try temporarily disabling it and then logging in. 

2. Check with your school's IT department to check the network firewall. You will need to add Weebly to the software's "safe" or "accepted" list. If you need to enter an IP address, please contact NYCHistoryDay@mcny.org for that information. 

3. If the problem persists, please contact NYCHistoryDay@mcny.org for further assistance.  

Note about payment: 

If a student's school is paying for the registration fee, the student will need to select "pay by check" during the registration process.

Refunds cannot be processed through the registration system at this time. If you paid individually, but your school is paying for the registration please talk to your teacher about finding a solution. He or she will be able to help!

How to pay your students' registration fees

  1. If you a teacher AND judge, you must create TWO separate accounts. Make sure to connect your students to your teacher account and to pay for them while logged into your teacher account. 
  2. After your students have registered (remind them to link their accounts to you), log into your teacher account.
  3. Click "Store" at the top of the screen.
  4. Select your students.
  5. Click "Add selected fees to cart" at bottom of page.
  6. Click "Check Out & Pay" at top of page.
  7. Choose "Pay Online" and use your credit card OR choose "Generate Invoice" to pay by check or purchase order. Note: The Museum of the City of New York is a New York City Department of Education vendor (vendor number MUS015).

New York City History Day Judge Registration

Thank you for agreeing to judge for the 28th Annual New York City History Day. This year's theme is Conflict & Compromise in History.

With the exception of papers & websites, final assignments will be handed out on contest day. We will be in touch closer to the contest day with directions, arrival times, this year's theme sheet, as well as judge's criteria.
